The Challenge
Though the importance of sustainable fashion is slowly getting recognized, it is being overshadowed by the dramatic rise of fast fashion. Brands are pushing buyers to consume at an extensive rate by shortening trend cycles while using inhumane methods to keep up with this pattern. At the same time, consumers are either unaware or willfully ignorant of the detrimental effects caused by over-consuming fast fashion. The goal of FURTHER is to encourage it’s reader to make slower and more conscious choices as well as provide alternative ways to remain fashionable
Process
USER RESEARCH
Once the concept was solidified for FURTHER, I moved on to define 3 potential readers of the magazine to determine what the focus and the visual direction should be for the content.
MOOD BOARDS
With the concept and users clearly defined, I began building mood boards that started to sculpt the visual direction I was headed for in photography, layout, type and color.
